3 Weeks Old!

The puppies are 3 weeks old today!
They are starting to get their sharp little puppy teeth.
They are becoming expert walkers.
They are playing with each other and us on occasion.
They are half way to their 4ever homes!

Officially they are also learning to escape. I went and took a shower and left Abby downstairs with them so she could eat and then feed them, well when I got out of the shower 2 of them were chasing her around the living room. The first born female and "scar". Stinkers. I will need to find a better way to keep track of them. LOL.

It's Been 2 Weeks Already!!!

The puppies are 2 weeks old today! Today was another day of cleanig out the puppy bed, we gave them a little sponge bath to help Abby out with their bottoms and their feet from STARTING TO WALK! It's so cute to see them learnig how to walk. They get big so fast! A couple of days ago we noticed that some of their eyes were starting to open and today most of them have fully open eyes! Abby is still being a good mommy. We have helped her with a couple of feedings since the puppies were born, just because they grow so fast and eat so often, we just felt like she needed a break. I can't imagine trying to keep up with 7 hungry babies!

It was time to clean out the bed a.k.a swimming pool so we piled the puppies in a box while Abby was outside and changed all the newspaper and blankets.

1 Day Old!

Day 1: Puppies are eating well and Abby looks exhausted!

The puppies are born!

The first puppy, a girl. She came out breech. She was born around 4:30 PM

2nd one down!

This one we call "scar". He has a special place in our heart. While Abby was getting his sac off she got his nose with her tooth. We also had a little bit of a scare with his umbilical cord, for some reason it just didn't want to stop bleeding. Fortunately we had some silver nitrate sticks from doing nail trimmings and we took turns pinching it.

The litter is born! The official count is 7! 2 Girls and 5 Boys! All the pups were born alive and we didn't loose any during delivery!

All in all a good first delivery, I think all the puppies were born by 10:00 PM. We stuck by her for a while to make sure everybody was okay, and we didn't know how many puppies we were expecting.

Abby took right to mothering the puppies one by one as they were born.
